Serving Winder Since 2013
Winder is the Barrow County seat, about 42 miles northeast of Atlanta, and it has become a true bedroom community without losing its small-town center. The historic downtown around Broad Street and Jackson Street still has its early-1900s storefronts, the Barrow County Courthouse, and Jug Tavern Park off Athens Street, a nod to the town's old name before it became Winder. Fort Yargo State Park sits just south of town and is one of the most visited state parks in Georgia, which gives the area a wooded, natural backdrop that a lot of owners want their landscaping to work with rather than against.
Most of the growth has followed the GA-316 corridor, the four-lane that runs east toward Athens and the University of Georgia and west toward Gwinnett. New subdivisions have filled in along Highway 81, Highway 11, and Carl-Cedar Hill Road, and they bring the same problem we see on new construction across the region: builder-grade sod laid over compacted clay, with drainage that was never planned. The lawn fails in the low spots within a season. We fix the grade, correct the drainage, prep the soil, and install sod that actually roots. On lots near Cedar Creek and the Mulberry River, getting water moving away from the foundation is the first thing we look at.
We also handle established neighborhoods like Barrow Heights and Pinecrest, and commercial work on the downtown corridor and out along Highway 53. The commercial market here is less crowded than the Gwinnett suburbs, which works in your favor when you want a contractor who shows up on schedule. Our GDOT certification also qualifies us for public and government jobs in Barrow County. From our Covington base, Winder is a straight shot up Highway 81, about 30 miles and 40 to 45 minutes.
