General

Are you licensed and insured in Georgia?

Yes. Liba Landscape is fully licensed and insured in the state of Georgia. We carry general liability insurance, and you can request a certificate of insurance before work begins on any project. We are also GDOT certified, which carries additional compliance requirements on top of a standard contractor license.

Do you serve commercial properties?

Yes. A significant portion of our work is commercial, HOA, and government. Our GDOT certification qualifies us for public works projects and larger-scale commercial jobs. We handle everything from regular maintenance contracts for commercial properties to full landscape installs and site work. If you manage a commercial property or HOA, call us to talk through what you need.

How do I get a free estimate?

Call us at (470) 226-7215 or fill out the estimate form on our contact page. We will follow up within one business day to schedule a site visit. We come out, assess the property, and give you a written estimate before any work begins. There is no charge for the estimate and no obligation.

How quickly can you start?

It depends on our current schedule and the scope of your project. Smaller jobs can often be scheduled within a week or two. Larger installs, commercial projects, and jobs requiring permitting may take longer to get started. If you have a specific deadline, mention it when you call or submit the form and we will let you know honestly whether we can meet it.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. We offer annual lawn care packages for residential clients and ongoing maintenance contracts for commercial properties and HOAs. These cover regular mowing, shrub trimming, seasonal cleanups, and other recurring tasks on a schedule we build around your property. Call us to discuss what regular service looks like for your situation.

Sod and Lawn

What grass types do you install?

We install Bermuda, Zoysia, Tall Fescue, and St. Augustine. Bermuda is the best warm-season option for full-sun areas with heavy foot traffic. Zoysia is lower-maintenance with a denser, softer blade that crowds out weeds over time. Tall Fescue stays green year-round and handles shade better than any warm-season grass. St. Augustine works in moderate shade and moderate traffic situations. We assess your yard's sun exposure, soil conditions, and how the space is used before making a recommendation.

How long does sod take to root in Georgia?

Most sod in Georgia roots in 2 to 4 weeks during warm months. In cooler fall weather it takes a bit longer. The first 10 days are the most critical: consistent daily watering is required to keep the roots moist while they establish. After the install, we give you a specific watering schedule to follow so there is no guessing. Avoid heavy foot traffic for the first two weeks.

When is the best time to lay sod in Georgia?

Late spring through early fall is the ideal window for warm-season grasses like Bermuda and Zoysia, since they root best when soil temperatures are above 65 degrees. Tall Fescue sod can be laid in fall, which is actually preferred, as it roots during mild temperatures without the stress of Georgia summer heat. We can advise on timing based on which grass variety fits your yard and your timeline.

How much does sod installation cost?

The cost depends on the square footage, how much ground preparation is needed, and which grass variety you select. We do not give ballpark quotes over the phone because those numbers are usually wrong and create bad expectations. We come out, assess the property, and give you a written estimate with a number you can count on. Call (470) 226-7215 to get started.

Landscaping and Hardscape

Do you do the design or just install?

We do both. For landscaping projects, we assess your property, note your sun exposure and soil conditions, and recommend plants, grass varieties, and layout before any work begins. This is not a formal design service with detailed renderings, but we walk through the property with you, discuss what will work and what won't, and put together a written estimate that reflects a clear plan. We do not just show up and start digging.

What plants work in Georgia clay soil?

Georgia clay holds moisture well but drains poorly and compacts easily, which stresses many plants. Species that perform reliably in Newton County and the surrounding area include native plants like Eastern Redbud, Beautyberry, and Switchgrass, as well as established performers like Knock Out Roses, Nandina, Loropetalum, and Liriope. For trees, Crape Myrtles, Dogwoods, and native oaks are proven choices. Proper soil amendment and drainage are just as important as plant selection. We'll recommend what makes sense for your specific conditions.

How long does a paver patio last?

A properly installed paver patio lasts 25 years or more. The base preparation is what determines longevity. A compacted gravel sub-base with proper drainage prevents the settling and shifting that causes pavers to become uneven. Concrete or asphalt bases without proper support fail faster. One practical benefit of pavers over poured concrete: if a paver cracks or chips, you replace that individual unit, not the entire surface.

Do you build retaining walls for steep slopes?

Yes. Retaining walls are one of our more common requests because Newton County and the surrounding area have a lot of sloped residential lots. We build in concrete block, natural stone, and timber depending on the height required, the soil conditions, and your preference for appearance. We assess the slope, soil type, and drainage situation before recommending a build approach. Taller walls and walls with surcharge loads above them require more engineering consideration, and we factor that into our recommendations.

Drainage and Grading

How do I know if I have a drainage problem?

A few signs that usually indicate a real drainage problem rather than normal post-rain dampness: water pools in the same spots for more than 24 hours after rain; you have soggy areas that stay wet for days; water is flowing toward the house foundation rather than away from it; you have erosion channels or bare spots forming where water runs off repeatedly; or your basement or crawl space takes on water after heavy rain. If any of these sound familiar, call us. Drainage issues that get ignored typically get more expensive over time.

What is rip-rap and when is it used?

Rip-rap is large rock or crushed stone placed to stabilize soil in areas where water flow causes erosion. It is commonly used along drainage channels, at downspout outlets, on slopes where water moves quickly, and along stream banks. The stone slows water velocity, which reduces the erosive force before it can carry away soil. It is a practical, low-maintenance solution for drainage outlets and areas where turf or other plantings won't hold up to concentrated water flow.

Can you fix water pooling near my foundation?

Yes. Water pooling at the foundation is one of the most important drainage problems to address, and it is almost always a grading issue. The ground around your foundation should slope away from the house at a minimum grade to carry water away from the structure. We assess the current grade, regrade as needed, and may install channel drains or French drains depending on how much water needs to be redirected. Addressing this early protects your foundation and can prevent costly interior water damage down the road.

Irrigation

Do you install new systems or just repair existing ones?

Both. We install full irrigation systems for new properties and existing landscapes that don't yet have one, and we repair existing systems that have issues. Common repairs include broken or clogged heads, leaking zones, controller problems, and zone coverage that was never set up correctly in the first place. If you have a system that doesn't seem to be watering evenly or has a zone that doesn't come on, call us and we'll diagnose the issue.

How do I know if my irrigation system has a leak?

A few indicators: your water bill goes up noticeably without a change in how you're using water; you have wet spots in your yard that stay saturated between watering cycles; a specific zone is running but coverage seems weak or inconsistent; or you can hear running water after the system has shut off. The most reliable check is to turn the system on zone by zone and walk the area while it runs. Look for heads that aren't popping up or that spray erratically, and watch for water surfacing from underground. If you find something that looks off, give us a call and we can come out and assess it properly.
